About Me

I am a scientist-engineer turned writer with a knack for communicating about science with multiple stakeholders, including researchers, funders, students, and the public. I currently write and edit grant proposals, scientific papers, summaries of recent research, essays, profiles of researchers, and other texts for academic research labs, biotechnology companies, government entities, and professional societies.

I earned my BS, MSE, and PhD in biomedical engineering and materials science at Johns Hopkins University. I completed my postdoctoral training in biomedical engineering at University of California, Davis. My research spanned many topics, including protein chemistry, biological membranes, tissue engineering, and cancer immunology.

I am committed to STEM education and outreach. During graduate school, I studied education and taught multiple college-level courses. As a member of Society of Women Engineers, I frequently volunteer my time to educate and inspire the next generation of young scientists and engineers.

I am currently based in Oxford, England. I maintain close ties to the places I’ve called home over the years: Baltimore, Maryland; the Bay Area, California; Colorado; and London, England.
